Nazi Crimes Against Humanity

No this is not going to be a blog about the holocaust, at least not regarding the Jewish part of the holocaust. This is not supposed to mean that what happened to the 6 million Jews that were exterminated in Europe is not a terrible calamity in the history of mankind; this is not supposed to belittle that tragedy in any way. The purpose of the next set of blogs is to give some attention to other peoples that were massacred by Nazis; some were targeted for complete annihilation. It came to my attention, that some people seemed to have forgotten (or simply never bothered to learn) just how many different peoples that Hitler wished to see annihilate besides the Jews, and even though the scope and means of the Jewish holocaust cannot be compared to any other Nazi atrocities, the fact is that the Jews were not the only ones that were targeted for annihilation by the Nazi regime. Other crimes were just as serious, and deserve to be understood and remembered as well. I apologize for this serious turn of my bloging, but this must be done, and after I finish this series of blogs, I promise to return to more funny and light hearted topics. I will try to keep these blogs not too long, which will unfortunately not explain everything and due little justice to the memories of the victims, but will serve as a decent introduction to these topics and hopefully will incite some to research some more. Thanks for reading.

Homie, I know about the 6 other million people persecuted in the Holocaust. Here is a list:
Jehovah's witnesses
Mentally ill and handicapped (Germany's euthanasia program started as early as 1938)
Homosexuals
Communists
Intelligentsia of invaded country
Any and all resistance
Sophie Scholl (now that would be an interesting blog entry)

Keep up the good work!

Before this post if I had to pick somebody for the award "Most likely to tell you really sad stories about mass genocides", it would have been a tie between Mariam and Ashot. Now Ashot wins.

Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Of the list published by Mariam, the Jews were the only one that contributed to the world in any objective way. I don't think you can exactly argue about that...what have homosexuals contributed to our world. A man having sex with another man. Great. What have the communists contributed...communes. See, my point exactly.

Roman, dude, seriously? You are basically saying that anyone who doesn't "contribute" to society should have been slaughtered? Ironically, one of the reasons for anti-semitism was socioeconomic. For example, in Ukraine, local peasants resented Jews for their higher social status as business owners. And so they willingly collaborated in Aktions when the Nazis invaded.

OK Mariam, I am sick and tired of you being politically correct. I know how you feel about homosexuals. I know that if you had a chance to see two naked men getting at each other, I know what you would do...I know...you know...everyone knows...you would perhaps consider suicide.

All I am saying is that the message and importance of the Holocaust is significantly diluted by mentioning a few hundred thousand people who were also killed along with the Jews. This is wrong, this is unethical and this is not the Holocaust that ought to be taught to your children.

BTW, did you know that gypsies played soccer?

dude, Roman, I hope your joking, because every innocent life is worth the same, equal, and is precious. what happened to the jews is very terrible, very important to remember, but the atrocities commited againts other people is just as important to learn about and to remember and to RESPECT. We all known what happened to the jews, and their scope of annahilationa and exterminations cannot be compared. I am not comparing them to anybody, thats not the point here. Gypsies, Ukrainians, Russians, Poles, they were all also massacred by the Nazis, and we should remember their sacrifice. God bless you.

Okayyyy. You do realize that there 6 milliion OTHER victims besides the Jews? Ex. Nazis killed 1.9 million Polish civilians during the war. That's not to say that we are degrading the value of the lives of Jewish people who were lost, but the fact that there were other victims. That's all. No need to get all bent out of shape about someone denigrating your religious heritage.

Your other friendly Jew here:

This proves once again that the longer any discussion goes on the probability of someone bringing up the Nazis or the Holocaust goes to 1.

I really don't understand what you are getting at. My point is this: The Holocaust is one thing and the persecution and death of millions of others is another...not listed in any order of significance. Keep the two things seperate and you are good to go. With all due respect,
Roma

Anyways, I am serious, gypsies do play soccer, and they are apparently quite good at it.

Roman. thanks for your input. I am not sure if you read my blog too fast, but its pretty straight forward. I DO keep it seperate. I don't put them in the same category, hence I am not writing about the jewish holocoust, I am writing about the other massacres, that don't get the same attention.
